With his latest, Bobcat Turnaround, Willie Lane surprised a few folks by forsaking his usual instrumental guitar meanderings for an album of actual sung songs, but no one is going so far as to call this "songwriting" as it's not nearly that highfalutin. Let's just say this is "songplayin'" with as much emphasis on the string workouts as there is on the crooning, plus a poet's ear for vibrato and other modulation effects for good measure. He is thrilled to be performing these tunes alongside bass legend Rob Thomas at Carbon Fest.
